Guide to our Appointments System

Who do I see?

For information on how best to be seen at the Surgery, select the service or condition you require.

Make an appointment at Reception or by telephoning 01225 858128 or 858686. We run the Advanced Access system which means one can book with a doctor of choice up to six weeks in advance or phone on the day for a same-day appointment.

Patients can also book online using the SystmOnline system via the above link.  This is accessible via online browser.  You will need to register for online services.  Please contact reception for information.  Patients can also book appointments, request prescriptions and view their medical records by using the NHS App on their smartphone.

Telephone Advice

As well as face to face consultations we also offer telephone consultations. These are available during morning sessions with all GPs. Please indicate to reception that you would like a telephone consultation with a doctor.

Practice Nurses

For some appointments it may be more appropriate to see one of our nurses rather than a doctor. At least one nurse is available at most times of the day. Nurses are available by appointment and for telephone advice.

Extended Hours

In addition to normal surgery hours we open once a week either on a Saturday morning or a weekday evening. These clinics are intended for people who cannot get to the surgery easily during normal office hours owing to work commitments. We request that patients respect this so that those who most need the service are able to take advantage of it.

Improving Access Service

Our patients can also book appointments with a local GP or Nurse in the evening and at the weekend in a PCN hub, provided by our PCN.   Ask reception for more details about what this service can offer or if you wish to book an appointment with this service.

Emergencies

If there is a genuine medical emergency or concern we will of course see anyone at short notice.

If all our appointments are full or you have a really urgent problem that needs attention before the next available appointment, please make it clear to the receptionist that you feel there is a potential emergency. The receptionist may ask a doctor to call you back straight away to decide the best course of action.

Home visits

These can be requested if a patient is too ill to attend the Practice.  Please telephone reception to request a visit.  You will be asked the reason for the request.  The GP may send a Paramedic to assess the patient and start any necessary treatment as soon as possible.
