As I am sure you are aware, we are trying to deal with most of our appointment requests first thing in the morning at 8am, when our same day appointments become available.
Some of our patients have been ‘beating the system’ by coming down to the medical centre at 8am to get ahead of the telephone call queue. This is something that we have decided to stop. Firstly because it is taking our staff time to deal with the patients at the desk and stops them being able to answer the phone. Secondly because this system gives advantage to those patients who are fitter, who have transport or who live near the practice. This means that those less able are disadvantaged and we would like to make the system as fair as we can.
Therefore, we would ask you to not turn up at the practice to make an appointment before 10am.
