Incoming Call Volume – How You Can Help Us

We have been receiving an unprecedented number of incoming telephone calls which our reception team have been working incredibly hard to answer as quickly as possible. We are currently training additional resource to help with the additional demand as we are receiving lots of COVID-19 vaccine queries amongst other matters. There are various ways in which you can help us before picking up the phone:

COVID-19 Vaccine Enquiries – please read the BaNES, Swindon, Wiltshire (BSW) CCG’s website and Q&A Document

Repeat Prescriptions – we do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone. Please use the NHS App wherever possible as you can order 24-7 at a time convenient for you and then simply collect your medication from your nominated pharmacy. This method of ordering is the most efficient and saves us a great deal of time. Please allow us 48 working hours to process your request and your pharmacy time to then prepare your medication. If you have no internet access and cannot use the NHS App, please contact your pharmacy or drop off a hard copy request in our foyer. You can also post your request to us with a SAE.

Self-Care and Pharmacy – please see Self-Care help and Pharmacy help

Telephone Appointments – if you have a telephone appointment we are unable to guarantee a time when we will call. Please keep your phone handy and be aware the number will shown as No Caller ID or Number Withheld.

Website – our website contains lots of useful information. Please let us know if you feel anything could be added to help.

Domestic Violence and Abuse

The Community Engagement Team has been supporting the Council response to Covid:19, it also continues to operate within the community as well as through home working arrangements. The team can still be contacted through normal telephone numbers and email addresses.

See the BaNES Council webpage here .

Covid 19 – Changes to Access

We remain open and here to help. If possible please telephone rather than attend in person if you need our services. When calling the surgery you will be asked for your symptoms by our reception team and will be offered a telephone consultation in the first instance.  Please note the reception team cannot be precise in the time you will be called but we will contact you on the number of your choice. One of our GPs will call you back and may then either use a secure video service or book a face to face consultation if appropriate.  Our reception is open as usual and online bookings are available for those patients registered for this service.  Thank you for your cooperation.  The Doctors at Batheaston Medical Centre.

National Data Opt-Out

This video and the NHS Digital website explain more about how the NHS uses your patient data from GP practices to improve health and care.

Please see the NHS website for details how you can choose not to have data from your health records shared for research and planning. You can also access this from the Your Health section of the NHS App. If you do not have internet access, please contact the NHS Digital Contact Centre on 0330 303 5678 Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm excluding bank holidays.

Your medical record will then be updated and you do not need to complete and send us an opt-out form.
